Guest guest
Cammie, Do they have to take another mold of your teeth or how do they make the retainer? I am having a permenant retainer cemented to my bottom teeth and one that I have to wear at night only )for the rest of my life) for my top teeth. I really want the permanent retainer to keep things from moving but worry because my bottom teeth are the hardest to clean due to plaque buildup there. I use a hook thingy to scrape and floss every night, how will I be able to do this without it coming off? Thanls for your input. Guest guest
Jane, after I took braces off when I was 17 I had a permanent retainer wire cemented both to my top and bottom teeth (the ortho finally figured out that a removeable retainer just wasn't kicking it for my mouth). Even though it doesn't seem it, you can floss ur teeth even with the cemented wire. You will just have to use a different type of floss which your ortho will explain how to use once you get the retainer cemented. There is space in between, you'll figure it out. I wore my cemented retainers for a total of 10 years until I got braces put on again and I never had a single cavity. I plan to have them put on again once I remove braces this time around. Guest guest
Sara, I requested that I get a top and bottom permanent retainer but my ortho says I can only have a permanent bottom and will have to wear the top every night. I wonder why this is?? It seems risky because my top has a problem area that already moved the first time I had braces!!
