Post-op eating

Happy Holiday everyone. I don't post often and more of a lurker. I

had my surgery April 26, 2001 and have lost close to 90#. Lately I

have not been able to eat or should I say eat much. I was worried

initially because I felt I was eating too much. I am just four

months post op and I still have a problem with breads, pasta, rice,

milk. So I just stuck with proteins and veggies. I find fruits too

sweet and most make me gassy. I am having the hardest time even

getting in two or three bites of protein now. I make certain that I

don't drink before I eat. I also thought that perhaps I had gas and

used Reglan about an hour before I ate. I am hungry but can't eat

and I am getting a little frustrated. Can you offer your insight on

what I can do?

Thanks a bunch!

Smooches!!

Wow, 90 lbs in 4 1/2 months that is wonderful. I have lost 60.

Have you seen your surgeon recently? Has he offered any wisdom on your

problem?

Praying for you.

Margaret: I don't know if this applies to you but the only time I

seem to have problems eating is when I don't get in enough protein.

What happens is....I have a day or two that I don't get in enough

protein, then I get to where I can't eat. Which of course makes the

problem worse.

When I finally figured out what the problem was...this is how I

solved it....I would force myself to eat protein AND to drink protein

drinks...literaly force myself...little bites of meat all day long.

Sip, sip, sip protein drinks all day long. When I would get enough

protein in...the next day was better, the next even better and so

on. After a few days I was fine and " could " eat again without

problems.

Now I don't let it get that far along. If I start to lose my

appetite I really hit the protein. Also If I know I had a low

protein day I have a protein drink. This isn't a daily problem, but

once in a while life just gets in the way for a short period of time.

I hope you find the solution to your problem soon.

Jo
