Guest guest
I have no idea what you have tried for pain but Arnica 30x works for me. I get it at the Vitamin Shoppe. I'm not sure how well they will be effective for arthritis. However, this drug is really irritating for the gut and might explain why I can't get rid of my symptoms of Cronh's disease. And because I still have inflammation in my gut, it probably increase the inflammation in the joint. If I stop taking Naproxen though my back will hurt so much I won't sleep and my everyday activities will be hell. Oh, and yes, I've been on Humira before. It was working well. But I started losing my hair, panicked, considered the fact that I was taking a very strong immunosuppressive drug, decided it was not a good thing and stopped it by myself. > > Any stories, ideas or suggestions to share ?> > Many thanks !> Annie > Ankylosing spondylitis and Cronh's disease> SCD may 2009> Naproxen, Mezavant, calcium and vit D > > > > ------------------------------------> >
Guest guest
Hi Annie, I also have Crohn’s, with a side of arthritis. My arthritis is nearly non-existent these days. I had a lot of pain in both knees, both ankles and a few fingers, even while on SCD. The longer I was on the diet, the less painful my joints became. I sometimes still have joint discomfort, but no actual pain. I never took any medication for it. I have used powdered turmeric as an anti-inflammatory with good results. Some people cannot tolerate turmeric so be cautious with it. It’s good in scrambled eggs. It is also fat soluble so needs some fat with it. Fish oil is anti-inflammatory also. I have seen specifically Salmon Oil mentioned here. And I am recently trying the fish oil and am glad to report that it works in reducing pain in my joints. Arnica was mentioned. I’ve used arnica topical gel on sore joints and that has helped. I’ve not tried it orally. I hope you can find some pain relief. Hang in there, it does get better. Guest guest
Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I didn't take naproxen for two days now and my pain is still not too bad so i'll try to see if I can handle it with more streching and maybe a milder NSAID like ibuprofene for now. I will have a look at Arnica and LDN. I'm already taking loads of turmeric and ginger tea Annie P.S. I'm a bit more concerned about salmon fish oil. Salmon and tuna are quite contaminated, and many contaminants (mercury, PCB, PAH, etc..) are bioaccumulating in fats. So I would be really careful with supplement containing those. Little vegetarian fish like herring and mackerel would be better.
