Oh my, does that bring back memories. My son ( he was almost 4) love this

one purple Adidas outfit. I would hide it and he would find it. He would

come home from school and take off his clothes and put it on. He was

obsessed with it. It wasn't until he was on the diet for a couple of months

that he decided not to wear it anymore. Needless to say I kept the outfit so

I can show him one day the purple running suit he so very much loved.

Yes this happens-with us it was with shoes-but its not uncommon. I would let

him wear his favorite shirt as often as he likes at home-but if it is too

small and warn out try explaining it is a home shirt and the others are out

shirts. If you establish a routine with this he may accept it. f

OT: Sudden preference for one shirt

> Has anyone had this happen? I put one of my son's older shirts on him a

few days ago (it was washday and all his newer shirts were dirty). The next

day, when I put his newer shirt on him, he sneaked upstairs and dug that

same shirt out of the hamper and put it on. The next day, the same thing.

The next day, I got " smart " and hid the shirt in the hamper in MY bathroom.

He still found it and put it back on. Today he tried to do the same thing (I

had tried hiding it in the pantry until I could wash it again.) So now, I'm

washing that same tired shirt and my son can't wait to put it on again.

Any advice for how to deal with it? The shirt he's favoring is a bit small

and faded, and I certainly don't want him to wear it every day.
