In response to your feeling about being lost without being able to munch....I dont know if I'm still in the honeymoon faze but I dont miss food. I personally think its because I eat whatever I want...as long as I get my protein in. I never ever feel deprived or like I'm on a diet. At my niece's birthday, I had a little cupcake and ice cream. The difference is a few bites satisfies me. If I'm sitting at the computer and crave some chocolate...I have 3 or 5 m * M's...LOL Its hard to explain but everything is very different...I dont know if this is unique or the norm....but I dont feel like I'm missing anything. I take my wellbutrin because of depression and I dont feel its related to food..its related to self esteem and self worth...something that is getting better!! ~~* AJ *~~ Age 37 5'8'' Post op 7/24/01 Open BPD/DS self pay - Dr Baltasar -Alcoy Spain 07/24/01 BMI 64 415.1 08/06/01 BMI 59 390.2 -24.9 lbs! -10.75 inches 08/16/01 BMI 58 387.0 -28.1 lbs! -11.25 inches 08/24/01 BMI 58 386.5 -28.6 lbs! -15.5 inches 08/30/01 BMI 58 378.3 -36.8 lbs! -21.25 inches 09/10/01 BMI 57 373.0 -42.1 lbs! Guest guest
Zoloft, like all the SSRI anti depressants, has been noted to cause weight gain for many folk. Many depressed people either eat more or less due to depression and frequently are physically inactive-- although some have a more agitated depression and are fidgeting much of the time. As depression lifts, eating and activity behavior often changes. This may mean eating more or less and being more or less active. These changes can impact weight. However, for people without weight issues, all the SSRIs often result in weight gain. Wellbutrin/Bupropion and Serzone/Nefazodone are two of the best in not causing weight gain and nor having sexual side effects. However, each body is unique and people have very different reactions to medications. There are many post op DS patients with wonderful weight loss-- some down to their goal weight-- who have continued on their antidepressant all the way through. There doesn't seem to be such a weight gain issue post op. That's not the result of research, but rather just anecdotal information I've gathered and observations based on paying attention to what folks have been saying here and on other WLS lists. Having an anti depressant that works seems to me to be the most important goal. With the DS you will lose weight. The long term side effects I'd be more concerned about include sexual dysfunction. The SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil & Celexa) and Effexor/Venlafaxine are notorious for this. Most of us have the DS for the sake of our health. And our mental health is a very important part of creating a life worth living. in Seattle --- In duodenalswitch@y..., > > Has anyone found Zoloft helpful? Guest guest
I've been on Zoloft for many years, and though it has been good for the depression, it saps your sex drive. My hubby has finally badgered me into getting my perscription changed to Welbutrin, which I did just this week. As far as assisting in weight loss- no. Not in my case at least. > > Has anyone found Zoloft helpful? Or heard that it can assist in weight > loss

Guest guest
, Took Zoloft for a while. Didn't affect my weight one way or the other but played havoc with libido & sexual sensation. Wellbutrin was the way to go for me (and seemed to help me weightwise as well!) Marcia > Re: Speaking of depression.. > > > > > I have taken almost every antidepressant there is, > including zoloft.
