Guest guest
Hi Stacee, We too have the s and have finished our three month continuous and are down to 20/24. When our son went into the s he had just had his second tenotomy and his dorsiflexion (upward tilt) wasn't as great as hoped due to tightening from his first tenotomy. When he first went into them his heel was definately not sitting down in the heel, like you said we could fit our finger under each heel. Anyhow by 4-5 weeks later we returned to see our doctor and by then we were told that his feet were now fully corrected (full dorsiflexion obtained). His foot definately sat down in the heel better by then. Now his heels are completely down, There maybe a little room under his heel but definately not enough to fit my finger in! I found I worried like you did but really it has all been OK. We also had to punch more holes in the toe straps. We used a hammer and nail and they seem to have been fine. Both on our first pair of s adn the ones we swapped to last weekend we quickly had to tighten the shoes to another hole. The suede stretches really quickly in the first few days and we have moved in hole within 24 hours. All I would recommend is getting the heel in as much as you can and then doing up the middle strap at tightly as possible. We also do what Kori does and ensure the tounge is really flat. I also tend to find that if I pull the tounge over the top of his foot and hold it firmly in place with my forefinger as I tighten the shoe I can usually get it a hole tighter than it first seems. I've always done the straps up on the very tightest hole possible (I know I pull them tight as in his first shoes the suede near the hole is only about half as wide as on the rest of the strap) At first I worried I was cutting the circulation off but I used socks without toes for a while because of this worry and it all seemed fine (Ethan does actually seem to have quie cold feet at lots of times both with boots on and off - Think he takes after his mum!) If you have any other worries or questions please don't hesitate to get in touch but I'm pretty sure you really don't have anything to worry about Kathy and Ethan (s 20/24) --- littleman1013 wrote: --------------------------------- And apparently there's a learning curve or I'm not too bright!! lol Or both... I can't seem to get 's chubby little feet into the shoes without the heel pulling WAY up. I can actually stick my little finger between his heel and the shoe bottom and feel him lift his heel up. I know I will need to punch a hole in the toe strap since it's well past the last hole to be snug on his toesies. I called and he explained a little of what to do, but I just can't seem to get it right. Kori--any suggestions since you've been in them a while now? Anyone else out there with chubby little feet (since Darbi's feet are probably more human- like!! lol) that knows the tricks of the trade with the s? Help!! :-) Stacee
