Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to comment on my recent consultation with Dr. Vanguri of Baltimore, MD, in case anyone out there is considering him as their surgeon. I know his patients love him, but if u have decided u want the DS surgery with him, U need to know that he has only performed 4 (four) DS surgeries over the past several years. The surgery he pushes as his favorite is one he calls the bileopancreatic diversion with gastric distal switch. When he mentioned that these patients needed monthly shots of vitamin b-12, I asked him if this meant that the pyloric valve was in the section of the stomach separated from the pouch....He answered affirmatively.......This obviously means that his favorite surgery is the RNY distal.......I asked alot of questions, and he disagreed with everything I said regarding my research, as well as the extensive research of others on this list who have come before me. When I realized that he had only done 4 DS surgeries (which is something his staff won't tell u if u ask them by phone), I quickly came to realize that this is not the man that I want cutting me open. This is just my opinion....His patients tend to love him and think very highly of him......I find his experience somewhat lacking in terms of the BPD/DS surgery.........If anyone needs more information on Dr. Vanguri or would like to speak to me offlist, please feel free to email me. Thanks, _Marie60@... __________________________________________________
