I had the exact opposite. Not enough fluid...not even half as much as

should I should have had. My son has left clubfoot.

Did anyone have excessive fluid during their

pregnancy?

I am due in 9 weeks and have been told since 26 weeks that I have

excessive fluid. I have been reading on the net and the condition is

also called hydramnios or polyhdramnios. My doctor told me that since

our son has been diagnosed with CF that this could be the reason why I

have excessive fluid. I was wondering if anyone who has already been

through this could let me know if this was true. Thank you

I was the same as you . I did not have enough fluid, so much so that

Kelsey's birth had to be induced two weeks early because I was low and my

volume kept getting lower. Kelsey also has a left clubfoot.

My doctor told me that I was measuring big, and that it was likely due

to excess fluid. I had a second ultrasound scheduled for 34 weeks, but

my son decided he was ready to come out and was born at 33 1/2 weeks.

We didn't know about the clubfoot at the time, and in retrospect my

doctor said that the excess fluid very easily could have been due to

that.

In any case, she had said it really wasn't anything to be overly

concerned about. My triple screen came back fine, and the initial

ultrasound showed no problems.

I often wonder if the clubfoot would have shown up on that second

ultrasound. Guess it doesn't really matter now!

As an aside, my son will be 1 next week (Thanksgiving Day!), and he is

perfectly fine. His feet have been corrected, and despite his early

birth, he's been on time or early for all of the major milestones.

Good luck with your pregancy!

I too had excessive fluid. They actually figured it out around 26 weeks

as well. For a bunch of reasons I had numerous ultrasounds throughout

my pregnancy and they never picked up the club foot. My dr's are aware

that he has club foot but never told me there was a connection. I did

read that too little fluid has a connection with CF. The dr actually

told me that they felt my excessive fluid could have been because I was

carrying a big baby.

Your story sounds just like mine. I too had polyhydramnios starting

at 26 weeks and my son had bcf. They had me petrified the entire

pregnancy that my son was going to be born with a neurological problem

or something more serious than just his clubfeet. They said that the

fact that he had the club feet combined with too much fluid could be

signalling a bigger problem. I had NST's the rest of my pregnancy and

numerous ultrasounds throughout. Nevertheless........my 2 y/o son is

SO healthy and ahead milestone wise. I have learned that the majority

of the time, having too much fluid is for no apparent reason as was

our case. I've seen mention of this before on this group and it

really makes me question what the relationship is between too much

fluid & club feet. I hope I didn't scare you at all with what I have

shared. There is probably no need to worry....I think " my " doctors

just wanted to prepare me for the worst (which I didn't enjoy btw

lol). I'm sure you'll be just fine just maybe a little uncomfortable

during the pregnancy due to the fluid :)
