Guest guest
Judie- Lol...I'm a whimp thats why it took 18 months. Actually, the reason it took 18 months is that initially I was researching RNY and it scared the crap out of me. I was so uncomfortable deciding to have that form of surgery that I keep researching hoping something I read would make me feel better about having surgery. Finally I did find research that made me feel better about WLS. I found DS. I found my first info on DS 4 months ago and it was like an absolute feeling of peace came over me when I thought of this surgery. This is a surgery that while I take it very seriously, I look forward to having it, until the RNY which would make me cry every time I thought about having it. If RNY were the only option, fears and tears aside I would have done it, because I am tired of being obese...but DS seems to have the potential of being my salvation. I never thought I would get to the point where I was excited to have surgery (having blood drawn throws me into panic..lol...and surgery is so much more) but this is my future...my happiness...my health...ok...stepping down from my soapbox...lol. I can't wait. Hugs,
Guest guest
, for the first ummmm 5-6 months all I knew was the RNY and I wasnt too keen on what I was hearing about it but thought well if thats all there is then ok, Ill do it. We had so much trouble with the clinic in san diego that it was like pulling teeth to get any kind of information or find out anything about insurance. They were rotten and not very nice. They even said we were harrasing them when we would call and ask if they had heard anything! Now....I know it was Gods way of preventing us from getting the RNY becuz a week later is when I found out about the DS! Oh, you can just imagine how overjoyed I was to find out there was something alot better out there! So, from that point it was about 3 months to when we had our surgery........You did the right thing though.....18 months of research to make sure you get the very best! Smart gal you are! I can tell you I LOVE IT! I would do it all over again. The world needs to know about the DS!! Hugs, Judie
Guest guest
Judie - I know how you feel. You're right when you mention that you think it was Gods way of helping you out. My brother died a few years ago and in my mind...knowing how tense I was about RNY, I tend to think that my brother nudged me onto the proper path. A silly theory that I am sure most will discount, but it comforts me to think of him up there...looking out for his kid sister.
