Guest guest
Hi Everyone - It's been a little while since I checked in. My plateau has finally broken. I forced myself to ignore the scales for nearly a month. When I went to my PCP today his scales showed I'd dropped 17 lbs since he saw me a month ago. That brings me up to 65 lbs gone since my surgery. Thank goodness!! And I'm a believer!! My three month labwork (last month) showed my triglyceride had dropped nearly 200 points to 150. I'd never, ever been able to get it under 300, no matter how I starved myself. My cholesterol is even better than it had been before. My poor PCP just keeps shaking his head. He can't believe I can eat such an amount of protein and fat and have such great numbers. On the bad side - I was severely dehydrated when these labs were drawn and getting into protein deficiency. My albumin levels were pretty low and the electrolytes were severely out of whack. I've been drastically increasing my water intake and am forcing down a minimum of two protein shakes daily, at least 70 grams daily in addition to my dietary intake. My ferritin was also low and my hgb was 10, up a little from a month before at my GYN. I've always been anemic, anyway, so I've increased my ferrous gluconate to two tabs daily. My rheumatologist already gives me a B-12 injection monthly, with my steroid injection. And I definitely need to order (and take!) the ADEK. I'm having a lot of bruising and have a couple of hematomas that just aren't healing. Doc checked them out today, they aren't getting worse, just not better. So, I'm off for more labs tomorrow. The younger of my two older brothers is checking out the DS. I wish him luck (he may be lurking here, now.) I'm not sure what it will take to get my eldest one to do the same. We're sending lots of prayers out for both of them. Take care everybody, Page post-op lap assisted BPD/DS 05-30-01 Dr. Kim, Ocean Spgs, MS now @ 265!!!!!!!! Guest guest
You support my view that weighing only monthly has great benefit.
