Hi Matteo,

My husband and I have a friend who is 34 and was born with bilateral

clubfeet. He was treated non-surgically with serial casting. He isn't sure

if it was true Ponseti, but no surgery involved.

We didn't even know that he was born with clubfeet until we shared the news

about our baby with a clubfoot.

He is the best basketball player we know. He is very active and loves to

hike and mountain climb. He doesn't experience any discomfort at all.

The longest term study (30+ years) of clubfoot patients was done of

those treated with the method in Iowa. It found that the results are

good for patients all the way into adulthood.

At Dr. Ponseti's website, there is a video in the testimonials

section telling the story of one patient of Dr. Ponseti, following

him more than 40 years. There is film of him as a newborn, being

casted by Dr. Ponseti, and then observed through childhood. In the

last section (link below), you can see him jogging, working at his

job, and talking about how his feet are normal and pain free:

My daughter is 5 1/2, treated by Dr. Ponseti. She is starting soccer

next week. She takes ballet, runs, has no limitations. She has even

recently learned how to jump rope -- something she's very proud of! I

expect she will be able to do whatever she wants to do in sports as

she grows up.
