Guest guest
I'm Canadian but we didn't get our band in the US. My son got his at 7.5 months of age and they won't even band most kids at the hospital in my city until they child is 6 months. ( or at least they wont even look at them at the clinic, as they want repositioning done first ). The province pays for approximately $1000 of the band treatments. The patient pays $1,500 and then can submit that to their private health insurance. The only band that is used in Canada, according to the OT that treated us, is STARband. I think the DOCband was used at one time but now it all seems to be STARband. Personally, I would get an appointment asap and then let them know that if there are any cancellations or anything, to call you sooner. I agree that the sooner the treatment begins, the better. I suppose if you have the money and the time to head to the US for treatment, you should. I think you may get a faster head shape improvement from sooner treatment, but if you start at 7 months with the Canadian hospital and STARband, you will very likely end up with the same results, just at 10 or 11 months rather than at 8 or 9 months... These are all my personal opinions All the best!! > > Hi Alison - > > Do you know what type of band the clinic in Vancouver uses?
