Guest guest
Yes. I had upper/lower/genio in Aug 2002. Was on a liquid-only diet for 1 week, then soft-no-chew for about another 3-4 at least. By the time the surgeon said it was ok for me to " eat anything you like " , my muscles were weak, I couldn't chew much, nor open very wide. Plus I had to relearn how to eat (I had an overbite/overjet, wasn't sure where to chew in my mouth). Not that this might happen to you, but I think it was a year before I attempted biting into a hard apple (I was afraid my two front teeth would fall out, probably unfounded). Enjoyed the simple delight of making perfect little bite marks in cheese. Ask your surgeon before you start chewing and listen to him or her! You don't want to do this over again, I'm sure. Best wishes in your recovery, > > Hi I had orthognathic surgery a week ago and I still can not use my > teeth. Is that normal?
