Very well said. I had this surgery for my kids also. I want to be around

for along time and being heavy that might not have been possible. This isn't an

easy thing we did. Its hard work.

Go to www.ivillage.com/boards and find the Hot Debates board. The

conversation is titled Obesity and Insurance. That particular post is #21.

What I find most appalling is the man that wrote that drivel is himself over

300lbs. I guess he feel superior since he WAS over 400 and has dieted down

to his current weight.

Could not have said it better!!

Re: Surgery a Quick Fix?

What?!! A quick fix? Is he nuts? I risked my life for the hope of

HAVING a life. I did it for my children. I did it because I was

depressed my entire life....I could go on & on...

Self control?! If I had self control, I wouldn't need surgery, would

I? Some people are just wired differently. I tried a zillion times

to loose weight. Always successful in the beginning, but never able

to maintain it.

As for " it's the insurance's money " ...Really? Should we be mad at

all the other people who use their insurance? Would he be happier if

I used mine for disabling conditions such as heart disease,

diabetes, joint pain, high blood pressure, etc? Then my spouse could

use it to cash in on my life insurance benefits!

How nice it must be to be perfect! That said, we are all entitled to

our opinion. I just wish people would research the issue before

spouting insults.

I don't know why I still can't find it. I looked for Hot debates and

found nothing....when I searched for Obesity and Insurance, a Q & A page

came up...oh well, it's probably for the best anyway!
