Guest guest
,If you haven't already, phone the compounding pharmacy that you have chosen to use and ask them what kind of capsule they use (gelatin are good and should be SCD legal) and if you can have the tylenol compounded without the use of fillers. Sometimes fillers are needed to help with absorption rates, or other things, and sometimes they aren't necessary at all. The pharmacy would know this though. Also, I recommend you ask them how they need to see the prescription written. This should help eliminate problems before hand. Oh, and maybe Marilyn can chime in, but bromelain and arnica really help with inflammation. She has had lots of surgery and such, and she would be a good person to ask for advice on foods and recovery/pain management.AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 19 monthsLDN 3 mg To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wed, February 3, 2010 1:18:18 AMSubject: Instructions for Getting Tylenol Compounded I will be having two wisdom teeth extracted and desperately need advice on getting Tylenol compounded. What fillers are okay? What should I ask my Dentist to specify. Many thanks,

What fillers are okay? What should I ask my Dentist to specify. My dentist wrote the prescription for acetaminophen, 500 mg. The compounding pharmacy was able to do it with gelatin capsules, and just acetaminophen, no fillers. Find a legal bromelain supplement (I'm currently looking for a replacement for my VItamin Shoppe brand because they started putting maltodextrin in it, and I didn't notice... grrr....). Bromelain is really good for inflammation. (Interestingly, if taken on an empty stomach, it works on inflammation. If taken with food, it acts as a digestive enzyme. Homeopathic arnica is also helpful for pain. The pellets do contain a small amount of lactose, though. One homeopath of my acquaintance said to dissolve 7-8 pellets (the usual dose) in a half cup of water, and take 1-2 tablespoons of that. She says it makes it stronger to dilute it (I don't pretend to understand homeopathy!) and that way, you also get less lactose. All I can say is that it appears to work! What I do know is that between the bromelain and the arnica, I shocked the socks off my surgeon by the minimal amount of morphine I needed after major abdominal surgery for uterine cancer. (Ran into trouble later because I forgot to ask about oral pain meds and their composition, and the sugars in them gave me vicious gut cramps that were worse than the surgical pain!
