Guest guest
Hang in there honey! He's at teh RMD house, right? Yes, they have mini frigs you can get put in your room for milk! And they probably have a baby monitor he can borrow also, so while the baby sleeps he can infact go to teh commons area for a cup of coffee or read the paper, whatever just like at home. Been there Done That! Tell him to investigate the bus system to get out and about too, take the edge off so he doesn't feel cooped up so much. They might have a baby stroller in teh basement he can use, also - I know I donated a really expensive one last year we got as a gift and didnt' need. Not wagging my tail - I used to borrow their strollers a lot so it seemed logical to donate another one to them. Try not to be too lonely s. Jenn Re: We're back! Hey -Thanks! I'll let them know. They left this morning. It was pretty hard on me. I cried the whole way to work and once there every time someone looked at me I started again- which happened a lot since I work and have school in a hospital! After about 10 mins anther rad tech came up to me and said, " Do you need to work? " She totally understood! I buried myself in work and did fine the rest of the day. I think Brad just told them he would need a regular room because they said they only have 5 suites. I think if he's there for that long that he'd need more though...I guess they kept telling him that they have a common kitchen he could use. Only problem is Lucas still wakes up in the middle of the night for a bottle and they say you can't have any food or drinks in the rooms! I called and they said for a necessity they could put a minifridge in the room. Plus he still naps for a couple of hours out of they day, so Brad will have to sit there with nothing to do. We'll see. That's great your appt went well! He is such a cutie! And his feet look great! Thanks for giving me the number last week. For some reason I had all of their info (including the address) except for the phone number! Jenn > > > > Jenn, > > I'm glad you had a safe trip to Iowa! Guest guest
Oh I'm sorry your baby is sick that's rough, especially away from home. s. Jenn Re: We're back! Thanks for the pep talk! He did get a fridge for the room- helps a lot! I'll have to tell him about monitors. On top of it all, Lucas is sick and he had to take him to the hospital- turns out he has bad cold and an ear infection. This morning I could hear him in the background coughing and he had a high pitched stridor between coughs- scared me! But I guess that just comes and goes. Brad sounds tired too! He drove and I made sure he took the stroller so he can leave anytime. Plus, my father in law is going to show up tomorrow, so I'm sure they'll go out to eat or something. He won't be any help with the baby, but it'll be good just to have someone there. He's been checking the board and & haven't shown up yet. Tomorrow's the day! I can't wait to see what Dr. Ponseti has to say. This is only the first cast, but I think I remember the first one showing the most change. Guest guest
Jenn: He can change rooms anytime and he needs not to be afraid to ask. There is also available a swing, which needs batteries, a travel yard and a bouncy seat. He might have to ask for them to bring it to him. The suites have microwaves and a full refrige. I always ask for a suite just because of those two things. It is so hard to do the common kitchen when you have a little one to tote around. It is just an extra $5 for a suite so I say for it. Keep me posted! Mommy to volng8r1 wrote: Thanks for the pep talk! He did get a fridge for the room- helps a lot! I'll have to tell him about monitors. Guest guest
Hey -He asked for a suite, but they said they didn't have any available. They also told me that they save those for families with bone marrow children and if he went in one, he'd have to move again if someone else needed it. He's been calling around and can get a hotel room with a microwave and fridge for $60. The AF is reimbursing him for the hotel and food, so he's seriously considering it! Like you said, it's so much easier to be able to have all that stuff right there with a little one. He said if I was there also it wouldn't be bad, but it's hard by himself.
