Guest guest
I have a little boy - age 3 right now - who has right clubfoot. He has one of the toughest-to-keep-in-position cases of natural atypical clubfoot I am aware of, and has been recasted every 6 months his whole life so far. However, this has not stopped him one bit, and he runs, climbs, jumps and plays just like any other child his age. The only time he has ever had pain was when his foot was in relapse and he could not wear shoes - any kind - and for the first hour or so after his most recent cast came off when he hadn't walked on his heel in 4 months and all of a sudden he was. There are many stories out there of Ponseti corrected boys doing all the things boys do .. and girls too! Anngel Adult with clubfoot treated whith PONSETI'S METHOD? Guest guest
Matteo, The longest term study (30+ years) of clubfoot patients was done of those treated with the method in Iowa. It found that the results are good for patients all the way into adulthood. At Dr. Ponseti's website, there is a video in the testimonials section telling the story of one patient of Dr. Ponseti, following him more than 40 years. There is film of him as a newborn, being casted by Dr. Ponseti, and then observed through childhood. In the last section (link below), you can see him jogging, working at his job, and talking about how his feet are normal and pain free: http://www.uihealthcare.com/topics/medicaldepartments/orthopaedics/clu bfeet/testimonialvideos/clubfoot07.html My daughter is 5 1/2, treated by Dr. Ponseti. She is starting soccer next week. She takes ballet, runs, has no limitations. She has even recently learned how to jump rope -- something she's very proud of! I expect she will be able to do whatever she wants to do in sports as she grows up. > > Hi all, > Are in this group parents of little boy or adult with clubfoot and treated exclusively with Ponseti's method ?? > How are the feet of the little-boy or adult? > How is their life? > > These information are useful for know or expect our baby's future after Ponseti's treatment. > > Thank you very much > > Matteo > > My screename:matteo1941 > My real name:Matteo Procacci > Clubfoot connection(child, spouse, grandchild, yourself, etc):grandson: Giuseppe born in Italy > Age of clubfoot child/person:date of birth: 07/07/2005 > Treatment:Ponseti's method initially in Italy and after with Doct. Guest guest
I have a friend whose brother is in his early 30's. He had bilateral club feet. He was treated with the ponsetti method, including a tenotomy, and has had no problems. He was an exceptional athlete in school, and still remains quite athletic. He thought it was strange that I thought it would have been any different or that he might have arthritis in his ankles. I felt much better after talking to him. and Logan Re: Adult with clubfoot treated whith PONSETI'S METHOD? I have a little boy - age 3 right now - who has right clubfoot. Guest guest
wow! You found one! That is too cool. Where was he treated? In Iowa or elsewhere? If elsewhere, he is very lucky indeed because very few docs practiced this method 30 years ago outside of Iowa. Do you think he'd be interested in contacting parents either here or by email? If he would be willing to tell parents about his happiness, I think it could really help show that this method works, and works better than anything else out there. I for one would love to hear his story. Kori At 01:53 PM 2/5/2006, you wrote: >I have a friend whose brother is in his early 30's. He had bilateral club >feet. Guest guest
He was treated in New York somewhere. I'll find out by who. His mother said they did not call it Ponsetti method, but the he did not have surgery and had the casting that ponsetti kids have. I could ask his mother if she'd be willing to write something on the board. I know he had a late tenotomy, but no problems. We are big athletes and sports fans in my family and I was worried about the small calf muscle thing. My friends brother has very muscular legs. I was glad to hear that. and Logan Re: Adult with clubfoot treated whith >PONSETI'S METHOD? > > > >I have a little boy - age 3 right now - who has right clubfoot.
