I went to my doctor last week for my 6 month check and told him I was

worried because I had only lost 6 lbs. the previous month and it

looks to be about the same for this month. He asked if I have been

eating a lot and I said, yes, I can eat a little bit at a time,

certainly more than I could at first. So he wrote me out a

prescription for phentermine to control my appetite. This has me a

little worried. For one thing is losing only 6 lbs in a month

terribly slow progress after 6 months? I have lost 88 lbs so far. I

don't eat a lot and I don't graze all day and I don't drink a lot of

high sugar drinks. I did start working out last month and I know my

muscle mass has increased. I took the phentermime for two days and

couldn't stand it. It reminded me of the old days of taking diet

drugs and having that speed feeling and having all my muscles aching

and having a splitting headache and not being able to sleep, etc. I

just don't want to go there ever again, that's why I had this

surgery. Have any of you ever taken diet drugs post-op and did it

help? Does the weight loss slow down normally after 6 months or am I

an exception. I figure I have between 35 to 40 lbs to goal.

I think if my surgeon prescribed phentermine I would take it

gleefully. The wonderful part of some diet pills is that you don't

even think about food. Now my surgeon would never prescribe

phentermine because it is hard enough to your protein in every day

and if you have no hunger at all you will not eat enough protein if

any. Now on the other side weightloss is usually gratest in the

first part of reduction plan so at this point you stand to lose the

most amount of weight the quickest. Being less than six months I would

take them as I know that the more weight I get off during this time

period the better off I will be in the later stages of the wls

window. And honestly I could use the energy! But not everyone is

geared to handle the jitters and the higher blood pressure which

will surely happen as a result of phentermine. Just my thoughts in

a not so organized fashion.
