Guest guest
Wonderful news!!! I am always so distressed when someone has results that are less than anticipated, and am delighted to hear that yours are now coming closer to fulfilling your expectations! Everybody feels frustrated post-op, I think. We just all want it to be over -- yesterday! And to ditch all the irritating hardware. WOW! Only one screw per side! That's amazing! It really does take a while for healing to complete, and for swelling (and even bruising) to resolve. And most of us really are eager to be done. I think we sometimes forget, in our haste, that we've had some major rearrangements performed. Would you expect a broken hip or shoulder to be recovered in eight weeks? If you would, you're sadly mistaken, at least in my experience. Or unless you're some sort of super mensch... I am sooooo very pleased to hear that you're getting happier with your results, Dan. I was worried that you had little satisfaction, which really isn't the norm. Not to say that those who have troubles are making problems, but honest, most folks find this to be a not difficult, although trying, passage. Cammie > I had BSSO on Jan 10th, I am 9 weeks post op and was just told yesterday from My surgeon that I can begin chewing on a normal diet. That was a long time but I would rather be safe than sorry. I posted some frustrating remarks a couple of weeks ago maybe you read them, But I am feeling a little better about it now. The surgery to me as far as recovery was a breeze. My mandible was moved about 7 mm forward and that part of it gave me no trouble at all. No pain and had a splint wired to upper teeth for 3 weeks. I have one screw on either side of my jaw and that is it. I have had no shifting or pain. I was upset a few weeks ago about asymmetry issues but I don't think it is that bad now. Maybe swelling has something to do with it. I am still numb in my lip and chin and am remaing in positive that it will come back. But like I said the recovery is very easy taking into consideration all we are going through. So don't worry about it, Give yourself time to heal, Don't jump to conclusions > to soon after surgery and since you are going through it anyway, Enjoy the time off work or school and the whole process.
