Hi all. I had upper, lower, genio on January 17. I went to see my

surgeon today for a checkup. I see him every 3 weeks now. I

noticed that when I bite down my front teeth, my bite seems to be

opening up as I can see in there and can stick my tongue out through

the space. He told me yes things did change. My ortho has me

wearing a rubber band on my next to last bracket in the back (going

up and down) as my back teeth don't touch. My surgeon said why does

she have only an elastic there, you need to have elastics up front

more as your bite is opening up. Now he saw these elastics 3 weeks

ago but didn't mention anything. He said b/c my jaw is so thin that

my upper jaw has moved a little. He said he would call my ortho

today (I see her on Tues) to tell her what to do now. He took an

xray and at least all the hardware is still where it is supposed to

be. I stared at it in amazement, just so weird to see 5 plates and

26 screws on that xray. He said yeah you have a lot of hardware in

there. So this has me bummed out and nervous that things are still

so fragile. He also seemed not happy with how far I can open my

mouth at this stage. He kept telling me to open more, push it and

then he tried to open it for me. I now have some exercises to do.

He also told me to move my jaw like side to side. I tried to do

this, barely can and it hurts and is so stiff. I mean I can still

hardly smile still, my face/chin are still so stiff and I am still

swollen in my lower cheeks, below nose and jaw line. In pictures I

look like a mask face. I am still eating soft foods only as I can't

handle much else, like my teeth don't work or something. Even a

tomato cut up is tough to do. I really want this to all be over

with already, I am so tired of it all. Oh and my skin is acting so

weird lately too, it is shiny but it doesn't feel greasy and it is

red and I am breaking out in little bumps and on my neck too. I

know it is from the surgery and all as I didn't have any problems

before. I think I will make an appt with a dermatologist.

Sorry just needed to vent, I just feel like things didn't go well

today and I am tired of hurting.

I think some of this might be due to the anastesia...when I had an

operation a few years back where I was put under anastesia my face

got really shiny and got these weird bumps afterwards. the doctor

told me that it was normal and that some people's bodies react in

that way to anastesia, it's its way of trying to get it out of the

system.

I had the same odd texture to my cheeks after surgery. They were dry

even peeling yet my skin was extremely shiny and oily. I broke out

around my nose and upper mouth area. I think it has to do with the

swelling and pressure on the oil glands. My skin evened out back to

normal as the swelling went away around week 4-5.
