Guest guest
> Did you actually get a report of what the doctor did? It's sad if some is damned for having his name on a list without the facts being revealed. (And you have to pay $10 for a one-year subscription to this site -- and you get 10 reports.) > ****No, didn't need it. He wasn't my doctor, I just know of him. > One of the names on the list was my son's pediatrician -- the most caring and conscientious man I've ever met. He'd often gone out of his way for my son when he was a baby, and I imagine he would do so for any of his patients. > > In any particular medical practice, even a good doctor will have a small group of disgruntled and/or troublesome patients. > ****Very true. But, in some states, it's not easy to get a list of doctors who have been sanctioned for whatever reason. I'd rather err on the side of caution if I was chosing a new doc. > I don't subscribe to the belief that doctors have any particular god-like abilities -- in fact, half of them graduate in the bottom half of their class. (Smile) Just from personal association, I've known the grief that can be caused to an otherwise reputable doctor / dentist / lawyer from patients / clients who feel they didn't get the right strokes. > >Keltie **** Again, that's absolutely true. But, because of my own experiences, I feel about doctors the way some people feel about lawyers. They have to prove to me they're any good before I will just accept what they say at face value. I also know I'm not alone in that...just look how many people post their doctor's diagnoses, recommendations, prescriptions, etc., asking for input or the group's experience with their particular medical issue. Sadly, I'm of the opinion that really good doctors are few and far between. in NJ > ********************** > Interesting website > > > Check this out. Guest guest
Right on, . One of those docs just narrowly missed costing me my life back in the 60's. Five months pregnant, with unending excruciating pain in lower right abdominal quadrant, and his diagnosis for over a week I was in hospital gasping for relief was " it's all in your head; all your blood tests are negative. " And it wasn't like this guy didn't know me; he'd been my doc since infancy. On a Sunday, he wasn't in to the hospital; some young resident poked me in the side and I rose 2 feet off the bed in pain response. A half hour later, I was in surgery getting an exploratory, 50/50 chance the baby would survive. They took out a 10-lb tumor glommed so tight onto my ovary they had to take the ovary with it. The thing was the size of a football, and filled with gangrene, and ready to burst at any moment, according to the surgeon--who called me " a very lucky young lady. " MY doc came sheepishly to my room a couple days later, saying " docs are only human; we can make mistakes too, you know. " Yeah, well. My opinion is, not with MY life you can't, and esp when I've been complaining about PAIN in that area for YEARS b4 I ended up in the hospital and you've been treating me for a spastic colon. The night b4 the surgery I had actually called him at home and told him when I turn over in bed I can FEEL something inside there kinda going " ker-plop. " Still was " all in my head. " Yeah, right.
