Katja,

The parents comment made me realize that I have some parents that are

not easy to deal with but I always realize they are there because

THEY ARE PARENTS and they don't take their children lightly just like

we don't take our health lightly. And no matter what the

circumstance it is my job to address their concerns and it is a dr's

job to address my concerns. I don't know why I tend to put up with

things whenit involves myself. If my daughter's dr acted this way

I'd be all over him like white on rice. I do know that I am going to

wait it out until I am un splinted and all hardware is rewmoved. I

also am going to talk to my ortho about referring allhis patients to

this OS (as soon as my braces are off) Supposedly all this is

supposed to be done in 8 weeks by the time we move. Then I will need

a new OS to check up on me anyway then I think I will let all my

frustrations out in a big letter!

Jane,

It sounds like a good plan to wait until you no longer need these

individuals' services and then definitely seek out some kind of

action and communicate with them your displeasure and

dissatisfaction. Definitely don't want to do it while you still need

them, but this gives you some time to calm down and act rather than

react. And you have a chance to research and plan a course of action,

whether it be to file a complaint, or write that letter. Good luck. I

hope your next visits go much better with your doctors. Definitely

assert yourself. A lot of the burden can rest on the patient to push

their questions/needs/expectations/demands.... the doctors simply

won't do anything unless it is initiated first by the patient. How he

handles it is a different matter, but definitely get your foot in the

door and stick up for yourself!!! Sounds like that surgeon was highly

recommended for results and NOT for his manner. Too bad you have to

deal with him when you aren't under anesthesia. Maybe he should know

that your appts. with HIM would be a lot more pleasant for you too if

you weren't awake for them!!! Goes both ways.

Take care, and good luck at your future appointments. We expect to

hear all about them!!

Katja :)
