Guest guest
Hi Jane, So far my lips have been in the clear. But my cheeks aren't having the greatest time of it. They seem to get caught sometimes in the way back right between all the hard ware with a nice pinch! I know what you mean about having a wider mouth! There doesn't seem to be as much room now in my cheeks between them and my teeth. There isn't a lot of room back there for my baby toothbrush! And oh, keep having the corners of my mouth split open from being pulled so wide and that has been a killer. Get a little toothpaste in there for goodmeasure, and oh boy yowie. My worst problem seems to in what I would describe as my gums.... back behind my last molar in the upper right side, there is just I guess what you would call a ridge of gum there and it iskillng me. It just aches and I have no idea what could be there that is hurting. There is no tooth there or anything. It doesn't seem to be swollen so I just dont know but it aches and aches. I have who knows what caught back there in the splint. I try to get it clean, but it is pretty disgusting, I am sure. I rinse forever too. My surgeon said it was ok to use listerine, just nothing with peroxide. So I use my listerine and phosflur mouthwash too. I alternate between then and I think they help- I hope so anyway!! But I have had on two occaisions little potatoe chunks stuck in there for a week each I think before they finally " went away " . What else still lurks there, I don't know! I know what you mean about trying to find your bite. My lower teeth don't really fit into my splint. My surgeon didn't seem that concerned and said the bone is where it needs to be and explained that it is due to swelling still in my tmj, but it is alarming. And some of my lower teeth have shifted a bit too just due to the bands. I was looking in the mirror last night and almost started panicking because it seems so off. I think I will call and ask about it just to put my mind to rest. When I tried to lightly chew some noodles the other day, I couldnt' figure out where I was supposed to be biting down. My muscles are all out of wack now. We are now in physical therapy for eating I guess! Woe is we....
