Guest guest
What a wonderful legacy this man has left. As I read all your posts and realize how many lives he has touched and how many people he encouraged to reclaim their lives, I am moved to tears. I thank God tonight for Pete Herida. For those of you who don't know the wonderful story of this man and his incredible weight loss his website is: http://www.bigpete803.com . Pete leaves us an important lesson in his passing. Whether you are a newbie considering having weight loss surgery or years out, it is so important that you stay on top of your health. Pete suffered congestive heart failure. Exercise is so important for a healthy heart and to move fluid through your body. If you start having a lot of swelling around your feet and ankles and an unexplained hacking cough, please don't ignore these warning signs. Be sure to see your doctor and make sure he take these signs seriously. I am so thankful for all of you guys. Throughout my many setbacks, infections and troubles, you have been there with a prayer and a word of encouragement. From the depths of my heart I thank you. Hopefully in the next few days they will schedule the next major surgery and I will let you know. I will be sure to post the hospital address because those cards and letters sure cheer me up. When I spent 92 days in the hospital the last time, I was going absolutely crazy until those cards and letters started coming in. Because I over 30 miles from the hospital, most of my friends couldn't get in to see me very often. Sometimes I would go several days without a visitor and it was really hard. Then someone from the support group would come by to visit, bring a backgammon board or to play cards and it just picked me up so much. When I get back on my feet and can move around well, I am going to be the Visiting Angel or something to the WLS patients anywhere near Houston. I am going to try and visit everyone of them in the hospital at least once or twice a week. I just know how much those visits meant to me. So to my brother Pete, rest in peace old warrior. You have help many and inspired others to rededicate ourselves to helping others through the fearful decision to have surgery and the first steps of their new life. The work you began and made so public will now be carried on by hundreds of angels all across this land. Thank you old warrior. Let's be good to one another.
