Hi, I am Lorraine. I had my surgery Dec. 22, 2000. I once topped the

scales at 360 and I was 305 at time of surgery. I am floating around 195

lbs. Just finally got under the 200 lb mark (which I thought would elude

me forever).

I trained for the National Aids Marathon last year. Due to tendonitis I was

unable to run the marathon but I did train for 6 months and was able to run

up to about 16/17 miles. Can you believe it? My daughter is now trying to

have surgery. She was denied by Cigna in March, but her new doctor feels

pretty confident he can get her approved through her new insurance, Aetna.

I have a tremendous amont of changes from no more diabetes, etc to adjusting

to other people having difficulties adjusting to the new me. I have even

had clients tell me they felt weird talking to me cause I just wasn't the

same person (these are clients that are just now seeing me since I had lost

so much weight). My daughter who has always been a size 10, is now wearing

the size dress I was wearing before surgery. She has been a huge support

but there's also been tension. She's the one who gets fatigued when we go

shopping and has difficulty fitting in the booth. Some days she is angry

with me for now being smaller than her and other days she's my biggest fan.

Any way, I just wanted to give a brief intro. Having had bypass surgery has

been the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have been frustrated

that my weight loss just stopped for a long while, but it seems to be

moving again. (Vitalady) suggested that I increase my protein

intake and that seems to be working.

I have a crazy schedule, so I may not get online much but mentioned

that I might join this group and I decided to do it.There still is so little

support out there, I thought I would come hang out and talk with others who

have walked this path before me.
