Guest guest
Jane, I was clearly warned that relapse is always a possibility. An unlikely one, but a possibility. My surgeon went over all this in that marathon appointment in which he answered all the questions I'd sent him in advance. He also told me of the risks of anesthesia, the possibility that one of my ceramic brackets could splinter and go into my lung (although he was not enough concerned about it to have me change them... He just said, " Those danged ceramic brackets can splinter... " I was thoroughly informed, I think, first because my surgeon is a good and careful guy; second because he knew I was old enough to be thinking on my own and taking all this seriously; and third because I'd been lucky enough to find this group and had done my homework here and learned a lot from those who'd generously shared their experiences and knowledge. I believe I remember his saying that one reason he no longer wires people shut is that when those big muscles snap back, they can have a powerful effect. (Other surgeons, no doubt, have had other experiences, or they would not still choose to wire their patients shut. If he had told me I needed to have wiring, I would have agreed to it.) cammie > > Bob, > > Maybe I am missing part of the story because i haven't been keeping up > like I used to but it seems your OS screwed up??
