Guest guest
Hi Ann, 4ME2BUY and everyone, Thank you for the terrffic response, and so fast! I guess I got ahead of myself in the first post, so I'll try to back up a bit.... As you know my name is . I'm 40 years old, last time I was weighed was a year ago and that was 335 lbs. ( I was weighed at Curves, my doctors scales only go to 225 lbs! ). I've been married 25 years this October, I have a 24 yr old daughter and a 20 yr old son, lives in an adult group home, due to some physical disabilities caused from brain surgery she had to stop debilitating (sp?) seizures. has been living on his own for a year now. So it's just Dan and myself here now. I am a safety director at a small family owed trucking company, and absolutly love my job! It's the first time in my life I actually look forward to going to work everyday. The one thing that I'm worried about is the reaction I'll get from them when I return to work. Also, being that I'd be away from work for at least 2 weeks, I'm not sure they wouldn't replace me, as my job needs to be done each day, it doesn't take long to get behind and can take weeks to get caught up. All the laws, rules and regulations the State and Federals put on the trucking industry, makes my job a mentally difficult one. But I do love it! As far as seeing a psychologist, well now I'm more worried HE/SHE may need counseling after I'm done with 'em! LOLOL Just kidding......... gotta keep the humor, that's how I've coped thru my life, humor and eating... the eating thing, well I can reduce that, the humor, no way! lol I need that! I have my own website if you'd like to check it out http://www.cynthiasplace.com I have pictures of us all thru out the site. Anyway I've added the question about possiable complications and what to do about them after I've returned home, as the hospital I would be having this done at is a 2 hour drive from my home. Thanks for being there, you are all great groups of people! pre-op, waiting for pre-surgery consult 4/13/04 Re: [bariatric_surgery] If you have a Lap Rny the recovery time is pretty quick barring problems....a couple weeks. Most people who have opens (me) take 4-7 weeks to feel good enough to work. Yes you will have loose skin after you lose the weight, depends on how large you are, your age, and other factors. VERY few insurance plans pay for plastic surgery. However, if you develop a lot of skin rashes, they say to take pictures to document and maybe....maybe...your insurance will cover. Mine wont. Most people I know are learning to live with a skin apron....sounds gross but honey its better than being almost 300 lbs. Dont worry about " the drains. " It isnt a big deal. They come out in a week or two. When they come out it stings but it isnt traumatic. The pre-op stuff depends on your doctor. They all differ. Mine required a slew of tests and blood work, attendance at one support group, a class in nutrition given at his office, a trip to a lung doc as I have asthma, and a trip to a cardiologist. Oh yes and a psychologist. THAT was the one that scared me but in truth it was fine. I just THINK Im nuts LOLOLOL It may take a few weeks. But it shows your surgeon is concerned and wants to know your body/chemistry in order to do a good job. Believe me they are used to obese people having medical problems....thats why we have the surgery. Best wishes! Skinny wishes! Ann Elliot RNY with gall bladder removed July 18 2003 291/168/?????
