Guest guest
Joanne - Did the doc call this a seroma? That's what it sounds like. If so, these are *not* dangerous, nor serious. It's just that fat doesn't heal fast, and it " weeps " serous fluid (plasma like liquid). If it's not infected, it will heal from the inside out, and shouldn't make a really ugly scar or anything. Just takes some time. I believe that protein shakes help speed the healing a great deal. You can get good quality whey protein from VitaLady.com. These are very low to no sugar, when mixed with water and ice. They provide good quality fuel, and I do 6/day. I had a huge seroma 15 years ago, when I had a hysterectomy. None with RnY, and I had been doing about 4 protein shakes/day. I also found vitamin C, about 3000 mgs./day to be helpful in healing. Divide it up, not all at once. Seromas are a pain, but not a *big problem*, if you take care. No soaking in tub, keep it covered, etc. Follow your doc's recommendations - I'm not one. RAchel Subject: Open incision I had laproscopic GBS in October, and am doing fine. My 33 year old daughter had an open surgery March 10, 2004, and her surgical incision is comming open. Right now, it is open an inch, and leaking clear fluid. Her doctor does not seem very concerned, and says there is no infection. The opening looks deep and it is very upsetting to her. Has anyone gone through this? How long did it take to heal, and what was done? Apparently, it can not be reclosed. Will she have a really ugly scar? More complications?
