Persis,

The first week or so are the roughest. He should be or at least I was only

on full liquids....jello, pudding, popsicles, etc. Was on full liquids for the

first 10 days and then pureed (blended) foods for the next 18 days. Tell him

to keep his chin up. Each day will get better and better. Did he have the

Lap or Open surgery? Will keep him and you in my thoughts and prayers. Take

care.

I was very depressed after surgery. It is a big adjustment to make. try to

get him to go to support group meetings, maybe that will help. I ate cream of

chicken soup alot in the beginning. there is a cookbook you can buy that tells

you the stages of food to go thru, it is a great book, even has protein shakes

and things for soft foods and it was only like 23.95 or so. it is at

www.healthyeatingforlife.com. I would get it if I were you, it was loaded with

ideas.

He will be able to eat almost everything again someday, just smaller portions.

i just had 2 small slices of pizza with my kids, I just cannot overdo it

anymore and I am glad for that.

He had lap. The left side of his belly is bothering him alot. It

actually looks swollen.

I boiled a piece of boneless chicken breast and I was going to puree

it for dinner. Is that o.k.? His doctor did not give us anything

other than to make an appointment with him in two weeks. So I'm

getting most of my information on the web.

Thank you for the prayers, Lord knows we need the covering right

now. He feels like he should have trusted the Lord for disciplined

eating habits that would lead to weight loss.

I really appreciate the encouragment and advice. Thanks again!!!

Hey Persis,

Your husband is very lucky to have such a wonderful support person

like you! I understand his comment about how maybe he should have

trusted the Lord to help him lose weight instead of the surgery. I

had quite a few people tell me that BEFORE I had the surgery. Its

amazing the things people say before and after the surgery. I ended

up telling quite a few people that I felt God was supportive of my

surgery. I felt my prayers were answered when I found out about the

surgery and that it was my last hope. They say God works in

mysterious ways and maybe the surgery was that for me. I tell you

it has become a miracle for me. I would have never lost over a

hundred pounds any other way (believe me I tried!) So Persis, tell

your husband that he hasn't failed and that he should trust that the

Lord is helping him with the surgery.

Keep us posted!
