Guest guest
Hi Kara We are going through the same thing. Our son is 5 1/2 months old and got his glasses at 5 months. We had a similar situation, our son had some eye crossing at 4 months and since we have a family history of eye crossing the pedi suggested we get his eyes checked just as a pre caution. They also found out by accident that our son is farsighted. He received his DOC band and his glasses the same week. Our clinician cut out grooves in the sideburns of the band for the glasses to fit without putting pressure on his face. It worked out great. The only downside is we have to take his band on and off to get his glasses on and off. Since he falls asleep when eating we just take off his glasses before he gets the bottle or nurses put the band back on then when he wakes up take the band off put the glasses on then re band. Trust me its a PAIN but I keep telling myself the band is just temporary. He loves his glasses I guess the poor baby really needed them, he doesn't touch them at all but the band also helps keep them on his face. He is just starting to roll everywhere and does an amazing job of keeping his head up so that the glasses don't put into his face. We got wire rim glasses which are small and light, we also got him the transitions, his prescription is really high so they said the sun may bother him they work out great. If you have more questions feel free to email me privately anytime, trust me I know its a challenging time. Has anyone had glasses and the helmet at the same time? The Dr. said I could wait a few months but I really don't want her vision to get worse. We found out she had vision problems because I went to have her left eye check because it appeared to be smaller than her right but it turns out it is because of the asymmetry in her head. So we basically found out that she is very farsighted by accident. Thanks,Kara
Guest guest
Hi Kara, I had a similar experience. My daughter's right eye appeared smaller than her left at birth. Her pediatrician kept telling me that it was normal unitl she finally suggested the band at six months of age. I also took her to a neurologist for developmental delays and he suggested that I get her eyes checked. She ended up being diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. She has had her surgeries and will be getting glasses next week. She has worn the band for a month now and I have noticed a HUGE difference in the appearance of her eye. She is much more symmetrical now and I am so happy I decided to band her. Good Luck, Jenn EMAILING FOR THE GREATER GOODJoin me Plagiocephaly From: kara_baltuch@...Date: Fri, 12 Jun 2009 23:27:07 +0000Subject: glasses and helmet Hi,I just found out today the my daughter who is 8 months old needs glasses.
