One of the issues about the shoes they put Hayden in at Children's, in addition

to them only being at 45 degress, was that the bar was too short, which I

suspect na's is too (check it against her shoulder width). Hayden is in

the longer bar at the 70 degree rotation now and he had one really awful night

and last night was more what I would consider " normal " for him. I know it

seems like the 70 degrees is so far out, but it will be if her bar is too

short. Hayden is totally okay with having his feet that far apart and out.

Call me if you'd like to discuss it more, because I had the same feelings as

you. I'd be concerned about the relapsing too for the same reason and also

she's had the tenotomy and you don't want to undo any of that, but perhaps we

could help with the boots and bar and get her comfortable and happy through the

night again.

I think I would strongly recommend the s to you, too. You have to

see them - they are soft, soft leather and a supple inner shoe and look so

comfy, plus they are much lighter, as is the bar. Also much easier to put on,

I guarantee it. Unfortunately, we've had a bit of a fiasco with our

shoes, if you can believe it. I will post about it sometime later today.

I totally hear ya , you have been through a LOT to get to

where you are at! If the shoes are set at a 45 degree angle then

thats what she was probably corrected to and hopefully she will be ok

in them. I would keep her in the shoes as much as possible as opposed

to the AFO's, if she is tolerating them during the day with no

prob's, great! Try to get in as many hours as you can.

I wouldn't advise keeping her in the AFO's on for long periods esp.

if she has some skin irritation due to improper casting...have you

talked to about the difference she has seen between Dr.

Alvarez' and Dr. Pirani's casts?

Just Please know that it will get better, Dr. Pirani will be able to

get na on track in no time!!! So glad that you found this group
