Guest guest
I am one year post-op of a lower jaw surgery. The feeling has never quite recovered in my chin and lower part of my mouth, but all of my lower gums are SUPER sensitive to hot, cold, flossing, etc. Anyone else have this problem? Is this a result of the nerves being bothered? Will it go away?
Guest guest
It takes longer for nerves to recover (my surgeon said 5-7 years for full recovery). Maybe your regular dentist can suggest something, I know Sensidyne toothpaste can help with sensitive teeth. > > I am one year post-op of a lower jaw surgery. Guest guest
I agree, my surgeon said the same thing. He said when he was in med school they would say 6 months to get feeling back, then when he graduated it was a year, now he says two years or more for full recovery. I am just over a year and am noticing changes in sensation to my gums, lip and lower jaw. Sounds like you are where I am at. I have a lot of feeling, but it's just not quite there. That's a good sign, but more time is needed for the nerves to sort themselves out. My gums are sensitive to flossing and sometimes I feel cold sensations. > > > > I am one year post-op of a lower jaw surgery.
