Most of you know it's been a rough several months for me in many ways.

Saturday I had my kid buy us a dehumidifier from Sears (neither of us, even

together, could have carried such a heavy thing); DH hooked it up in our weepy,

damp,

humid basement & it seemed to be running fine. I discovered a small chip and

crack in the casing just b4 coming upstairs when we were done.

The unit had cost nearly $200 (competitive with Home Depot, etc). The crack

doesn't affect anything except the looks, but I figured new is new, and it

shouldn't be cracked. I called Sears and asked them to come out and replace it,

explaining that neither I nor DH were capable of taking this heavy machine back

to the store. The salesman was sympathetic, but didn't know what to do, so put

me on to his manager, who asked if I'd take a reduction in price instead of

an exchange. How much, I asked. $80 he says. I say ok, fine. Today I got a

receipt in the mail from Sears -- a credit to my charge account for $80 PLUS

TAX.

Ya know, they didn't REALLY have to do a darned thing. It was really up to me

to get the unit back to the store if I wanted to exchange it. So I was

pleased and pleasantly surprised. And quite impressed with Sears' policy on

keeping

the customer happy. And what with all the medical bills lately, we can

certainly use an extra $80 ! This gesture really made my day and renewed my

faith in

- I don't know - just a lotta stuff.

Lately it's seemed it just mostly takes forever to get any kind of a problem

handled.

I figure one good turn deserves another. Sears didn't ask for a thing from me

in return, not even my continued business. I hope everyone who reads this and

has a need for anything Sears sells, will go there and buy it -- or at least

check out their price on it, and tell them you heard they have a great

customer service program.

And, please, if you have a problem with this post, try not to flame me. Just

feelin' good and want to pay it forward. I DID warn this was O.T.
