Guest guest
Genio is the sliding foward of the chin bone. It involves cutting the bone down each side of the chin and bringing it foward to make a good profile. It does not use a chin implant of tissue or any other sort though..just your own natural bone. HTH... and i *think* SARPE is a upper palatte expansion to widen the upper teeth/jaw but Im not nearly 100% sure on this one. > > LeFort, Osteotomy, Genio, SARPE ~ could someone please give me a > quick very simple explanation of these terms? Guest guest
Leforte is the breaking of the upper jaw (there are 3 - Leforte I, Leforte II, and Leforte III). Most of us have Leforte I. As far as I know, osteotomy refers to cuts in the bone. The other person gave pretty good explanations of genio and SARPE. > > LeFort, Osteotomy, Genio, SARPE ~ could someone please give me a > quick very simple explanation of these terms? Guest guest
Lefort 1, 2 or 3 has to due with the upper portion of your face, if you go to this link and look at picture 18 if shows the classifications. http://www.utmb.edu/otoref/Grnds/Fx-Max-orb-2004- 0107/Fx-max-orb-slides-2004-0107.pdf Osteotomy is the cutting of bone. Genioplasty is the cutting of bone in the chin and sliding it up, down, forward or backward. SARPE is Surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion hope this helps. > > LeFort, Osteotomy, Genio, SARPE ~ could someone please give me a > quick very simple explanation of these terms?
