Guest guest
Hi Jane, Right now, I'm neither banded or wired. I have to put 1 rubber band on at night, but that's it. I had 2 rubber bands for 1 week that i had to have on all the time (except for eating and cleaning), but not anymore. I'm praying that tommorow will be the day my splint comes out (too ambitious? I don't know, but really hope tommorow's the day!). My chin definitely looks smaller. I'm not sure how I feel about my appearance yet. I kinda miss the " old me " . Plus, it's still hard to tell what the final result looks like because of the swelling. I have to get used to my new smile - I kinda think it look dorky at the moment . Oh well, that's the one I have to live with, so I'd better get used to it. What do you think about the way you look now? Have you posted any pictures? My 2 year old is finally back home today from her stay with grandparents - I'm so happy. It was very nice of them to take her in while I was recovering, but I missed her horribly. Guest guest
Jane: Sorry you had to go through that ordeal...It does not sound like fun!! But, at least you have those crawfish to look forward to & at least you have your surgery over with, unlike me who is waiting the torture...(haha) I think smelling those crawfish all day long would drive me crazy..(haha) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Cammie, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I knew you wrote like a southern bell! Guest guest
Jane, I don't believe in guilt. I don't think it's a postive emotion, in any sense. I've been off work since Tuesday, taking vacation. There are a jillion things I needed to clean, put away, wash, etc. in our ancient, difficult old house. Did I do any of it? Nope. And my husband, who is fighting some significant health battles of his own, kept painting walls, sanding things he wanted to paint, etc., etc. But do I feel guilty about having slept until noon each day and ignoring the other stuff? Nope. I knew I had reached a point where the maximum I could do was get him to three medical/dental appointments and the paint store (for 2.5 hours!) while he picked out colors and brushes. And go get the groceries we needed. I'll be doggoned if I'm gonna feel guilty about it -- i was where I needed to be. And I'll bet you were, too. Let him do what he wants/needs, and you insist on the time to do what you want/need, too. I'm not one for encouraging spats between partners, but right now you are the one who needs nurturing. (I'm sure you would never neglect your child, and I'm not talking about that.) C. > > Cammie, > > Thanks so much you always have the best advice. Guest guest
And there's another side of that, too. When you're better able to deal with it, you're probably gonna have to make some accommodations for him, as well. From what I've heard of residencies, they are a tough time for families, and for the docs who go through them. (Why we think we have to subject our caregivers to such trials is another question, and one for which I do not understand the traditional answers. I'd a lot rather be seen by a doc who's just had a good night's sleep, or a weekend off with family, than by one who's worked an insane number of hours back-to-back with few hours sleep. I understand that there are emergencies; all of us deal with one or another, and docs more than most. But does that mean that we must do our learning in a sleep-deprived state? But that's another story.) I do believe, though, that your understanding is such that you're ready and able to be equally supportive of him in his times of need. Just not right now, while you're nursing an injured jaw! C.
Guest guest
I worry. For me, that green phlegm usually means infection. I think I remember that you're newly on antibiotics. But I worry. And not about joint damage, but about infections that can delay healing. Especially since you're post-op, skinny, probly not getting the best nutrition, and probably your resistance isn't the greatest at this point... Stitches coming out are natural, far as i know. Blood isn't always bad -- it can be cleansing. Green phlegm is not! Talk to hubby. Talk to docs. Be sure things are on track. I'm still worried about that exposed bone, too.... Not trying to scare you. I'm a stricktly idjut lay person, flying on instinct.
