Guest guest
Hello Tania, Maybe your skin is crying. --------------- Do the spit test (I think somebody already suggested it), but remember that Candida itself is a common symptom of many different types of deeper issues (ills) that produce symptom sets with common subsets. Be well. Avraham On 7/1/05, Tania <freecycle@...> wrote: > > Hi, I'm new. I have had a skin rash/fungii/virus/ who-knows-what > for 2.5 years now. Guest guest
wow, didn't know i could test like that. I will do it tomorrow morning! btw, what other " more serious " conditions could I have that would cause me to have candidiasis. -Tania > > > --------------------------------- > Hi, I'm new. Guest guest
Hi, I replied yesterday but I don't know where my reply went! I don't see it! Anyways, let me try to reply again. Avraham, what kind of deeper issues could actually cause candidiasis? Some time week before last I went to the pharmacy and looked around for anything that looked like it might help my skin. I bought athelete's foot spray that has 2% Miconozole Nitrate and used that 4,5 times, then stopped because we're trying to get pregnant and wasn't sure if i was pg during that time. I started using it again today since i know that i'm not pg but I will stop after tomorrow because I have made an appt with a new dermatologist and don't want to affect any cultures s/he may want to take. It's shocking to see that the spray is actually helping it! It's not stopping it from spreading and I can tell that it's probably not going to get rid of it because whatever it is is still growing. since I first posted here my skin rashes have become darker and uglier but some of the skin in the folds of my boobs have dried up and have come off as if it is dying. After 2 years, it is the worst it has ever been by far. I'm trying my best to cut out sugars from my diet but it is difficult to control my cravings for it. I also want to do the saliva test but my fog brain isn't helping. I keep forgetting every morning! I've taken pictures of my rash but wonder if it's appropriate to post a link here. Let me know if I should. the pics only show the skin under my boobs (not my boobs!) lol! also, can someone tell me what affect caffeine might have on yeast? thanks! -Tania > > > > Hi, I'm new. Guest guest
My head is spinning right now. About 12 hours ago I accidentally ran across an article about plagiocephaly and was curious because I had noticed my daughters head was a funny shape. I have never heard of this before and did not know this was treatable. When I saw pictures, I realized THAT is what MY child looks like. I feel horrible right now. Bad for her, guilty because I know I've not pushed tummy time enough and scared for what this means NOW. What is the next step? Why didn't the pediatrician (who I LOVE) not pick up on this? My daughter turned 5 months old yesterday. Do I wait one month until the already scheduled 6 month appointment to discuss this with the pediatrician or do I call first thing Monday? Is the pediatric community supportive of the treatments most of you have sought? How did all of you find out about this?
Guest guest
Hi Joanne, first, don't panic. You have caught things fairly early and can get improvement. It is really frustrating to most of us that doctors aren't more helpful about this. At 2 mo I asked my ped about my daughter's head and heard only " don't worry " . At the 4 mo check when I asked again she said " it looks pretty bad " , and referred me to a specialist. If she had been informed and helpful at the 2 mo visit I might have avoided banding. I would call and ask to see your ped early. Also you can consider getting an evaluation by cranial tech if there is one nearby (cranialtech.com). They are a band provider and do free evaluations. Also you can post pictures of your daughter's head here in the photos section, and get opinions that way. Many of us are now quite used to looking at plagio heads :-) My daughter got a starband at age 5 mo and got a lot of correction. She had brachycephaly (flat in back with little asymmetry). One other thing to be aware of is torticollis. It is a big contributor to plagio and needs to be treated by stretches and physical therapy. Tort is a shortened or tight neck muscle on one side that causes the baby to prefer looking only in one direction, resting with the head facing the same way, and tilting the head to one side (you may notice in photos that your baby's head is always tilted one way). Not every plagio baby has tort, but it is common. Please let us know what you decide to do next. -christine sydney, 3 yrs starband grad > > My head is spinning right now. Guest guest
Hi there...I noticed my daughter was turning her head mostly to the right and that she had a "dent" on that side at about 2 months. I called immediately and took her to see her ped. He told me that she had torticollis and mild plagio(misshapen on one side). He gave us exercises to do at home and said it would correct itself. Well, that was not the case and I loved him too. First my daughter screamed during the exercise, I called him back 4 times in 2 weeks. He said to continue. Then I sought out this post.I immediately found an infant head and neck specialist...as per suggestions from this forum. She has been in physical therapy ever since and does exercises, that are different and don't hurt, every day...3-5 times. Her plagio is much better.. But now has brachycephaly(flattening in the back, which can make the face wider and ears stick out). Plagio is apparently worse because it can cause asymmetry of the ears or face.It is all a process and takes effort and attention. Once one side gets better you have to start balancing their strength and stretching exercise, and positioning them to get their heads to round out...which may still be an option for your baby if her plagio is mild. I truly believe that I could not have done it properly without help. Time is of the essence as well, as their heads start to get harder, less maleable. I have read here that many babies start treatment at 5 months and even much later. If I were you I would make an appt Monday. If she needs banding or helmeting it is a great time to start, as her neck has become much stronger. This is very common, its interesting that not many of us know about it... I didn't. Also, I would ask to be ref to a specialist. Many peds are not very well trained, if at all, in torts, plagio, brachy. You are doing the right thing already. Don't feel badly, some people don't believe it to be that big of a deal at all and knowingly do not treat. I have always felt that if something is fixable, there is no reason they should have to live with it. To add... Most babies with tort, which usually is what leads to plagio, hate tummy time. I know what you mean... I had a hard time with it as well. Anyway, best of luck to you and your little one. You're on the right track and she has an excellent mommy. Guest guest
Hi, i know how you feel! my son was born 10 pounds and i noticed he always turned his head to the left---long story short i noticed a flat spot but i really didnt think a ton of it, i asked people questions and of course everyone says " oh yeah it goes away no big deal " even the pediatrician said it would go away! and i absolutely love my childrens ped. too!!!!i started looking online i typed in flat spot in google, and BAM there it was, PLAGIOCEPHALY...i couldnt believe it. my sons head looked exactly like that....he was 9 weeks old when i saw that online.---- so i took him to physical therapy, they said he had a tight neck from being cramped inside of me... they said it caused the flat spot and it wouldnt go away and that he would need a helmet......i waited until we left and started sobbing. i felt terrible..... the lucky thing for you is its not too late. instead of feeling guilty just know that you are lucky that you found it now because some mommies on here dont notice it until its too late. the place where i got my sons helmet bands them and 2 weeks later lets you take the helmet home and start treatment about 5-6 months..... its a great age, so if i was you i would call and talk to your ped. and find the nearest 'cranial tech' 'hanger' or 'orthoamerica' place around you. (heads up you need a prescription from your ped. in order to get the helmet so maybe you should talk to him or her) if you need to talk feel free to email me anytime. my son is 6 months old and hes been wearing his helmet full time for 2 weeks now and his head is looking amazing! it really works so dont beat your self up!!! > > My head is spinning right now.
