Guest guest
An indicator of quality childcare and directors, providers and programs that are truly educated regarding the care of infants and toddlers, is their willingness to accommodate all kinds of children. ly, I wouldn't want my child in a center or home that isn't willing to meet the individual needs of all children. In my home I cared for children with very severe asthma, children that had significant vascular issues, a child on a heart monitor with medication to maintain his heart rate, and a child with significant cerebral palsy. A well-trained provider can and does integrate children's individual needs into the daily routine. I believe an important step to lessening discrimination of " different " people is to expose children of all ages to each other. The alterations necessary to care for these different types of needs were neither cumbersome nor costly. Most of the alterations required education on my part, willingness to do the job, and dedication. " Safety, center set-up & design, etc.. " types of restrictions imply an unwillingness and lack of understanding/knowledge to get the job done. Parents and children shouldn't have to lie to accommodate providers who break the law because they are unwilling to care for children who are different even for a short while.
