canned beets.

I know canned vegetables are illegal. I also know i'm still asking the question although I already know the answer. :)The canned beets I have which are "no salt added" have only 2 ingredients listed. They are sliced beets and the ingredients on the side are water, and beets. That is all. I've used them before, but I'm not symptom free so maybe this is what i'm doing wrong? What could possibly have been added or done to these that isn't being listed? I know on all the other canned vegetables they add sugar or natural flavoring but on the no salt ones they are just water and whatever vegetable it is.
