Guest guest
I worried about that pre-op too. I had many LAST suppers.... last steak, last barbeque, last brownies, etc. I worried I would miss them. Guess what? Your taste buds change so much it may not be a problem. Some things I used to crave dont even appeal to me now. Others, a few bites satisfies me for weeks. I was a big time chocoholic... rarely touch the stuff now. Maybe I get my fix w/chocolate protein shakes, but without the craving. The first few weeks post op, the bland food (cottage cheese, eggs, oatmeal, s/f puddings, jello) got to me so I would take a hand blender to corned beef hash or bean soup and a few bites would do... I may have been craving salt. There is very little I cannot eat (including sugars, damnit) but the small portions are not damaging and very satisfying. My advise is to not worry about it until the time comes, if it does. I still pack way too much for work lunches; I bring home half of what I pack. Subconsciously there must be a fear of not having enough to eat. The tool of surgery is doing its job in spite of my fears. ~~Pat~~ Orlando, FL 252/189/160 (-63) BMI 37.2/28.5/23.6 52 Years Young LAP-RNY 12/10/03 Wayne English, MD Ft Lauderdale, FL Message: 14 Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 03:06:46 -0000 Subject: food withdrawl? My question today is how to deal with the food withdrawl. What have others of you done? I am scheduled to have surgery at the end of June. I am very excited but I am scared to death of how to deal with the food withdrawl.
