Hi Kathy-- Dr. Anthone in CA is fond of taking the Pannus (like that word

better?) off before he does the DS-- I can't tell you how it compares to

DS surgery since I have not had it yet. If you have it done when you are

near goal weight, you will probably have less trouble with the incision

and recovery stuff-- my weight assisted in making the incision come

apart, so I have had a long recovery time trying to get the incision

closed up.

You might try a couple of things I did before my apron got hacked off:

tuck a cotton wash cloth rolled up under the apron to keep the area dry

and prevent the kind of rash we tend to get from moist heat. And ,

second, wear a light control elastic panty type girdle they are pretty

comfortable and at least keep the thing from flopping around. What you

have going for you, even now, is a " medical necessity " reason for getting

the thing removed-- it is impeding your mobility and it is causing skin

breakdown. You might want to consult your surgeon and or a plastic

surgeon on the subject.
