Spinoff of the "taking longer breaks" thread.

Because we've only been helmeted 2 weeks, and probably 4 or 5 days out of that two weeks, we've found ourselves somewhere very hot (tball game, botanical gardens, out in the neighborhood too far from home) and I've taken it off for an hour or two.

It's about 95 degrees already here, most days, with high humidity. What signs show that the helmet needs to come off? I've been going by "red face" and the rest of his body being really sweaty. I'm just terrified of heat stroke--I'm giving him tons of water to drink and keeping him shaded in the stroller, but it is just.so.hot.

My older boys (5 and 6 1/2) just can't stay indoors all summer, so I've got to get a handle on how to deal with this weather--

hi betsy,

that is so funnyi actually also asked a question titled 'just how strict are you

with the break from the band' or something like that.

im a stay at home mom, of a 3 year old little girl and i have a 6 month old who

started wering his STARband on Monday. If it gets too hot outside i would say

take it off.... it gets pretty hot here and my son gets really hot easy so we

mostly stay indoors.

we are taking our 3 year old to the zoo this weekend and we plan on taking my

son to my moms house. she likes spending time with him and i will just be sad to

see him in the helmet and having to take it off and putting it back on im afraid

i wont get to enjoy the zoo experience with my daughter...

i asked my question because i really am curious how strict everyone is with the

whole 'hour' break, and still seeing results. i just cant hardly stand it when i

take it off and then gotta put it right back on! i really do think its harder on

me than it is on him!!!

i personally think it is fine to take the band off for al ittle while if its

exteremly hot...i mean they say to take it off while swimming and everything,

maybe you should bring this up at the next appointment and i think i will as

well!!!!

good luck betsy!!
