Guest guest
I've been on a CPAP since '97, it does take some getting used to. The great thing is though I will probably be giving it up here real soon. After surgery there's a good chance that the apnea will also go away. I can't wait. Have already been through an oxygen/heart rate test to see how things are going and they are getting better. My Dr. told me it might take 6 months but something to shoot for. Hang in there Starlet. Guest guest
Starlet, I just got my C-Pap about a month and a half ago. I hated it at first. There were times in the middle of the night that I would rip it off because I felt like I was suffocating. I wasn't, of course, but it freaked me out. But I have gotten used to it and sleep through the night now. It took me about a month to get really used to it and to the point that I could tell that it was working. Does your unit ramp up? That has been a help for me. I get to sleep while it is on a low setting and then when it gets to the setting where it should be I am usually asleep. And the longer you wear it, you will not be able to tell it is blowing air. I now have to open my mouth to see if it is blowing or not because I can't feel it. Hang in there. It will be very frustrating and annoying at first, but you will get used to it. And it could be a life saver some day.
