Guest guest
Jane, I too was wired shut, a total of 7 weeks, and let me tell you--it was very hard! My worst day was 8 days post op, when I could get NOTHING between my teeth, and I was so weak, tired, and miserable. My husband was trying to force something down, and I wanted to go to the ER and get and IV put in. silly now that I think about that. But, please, hang in there, what I did that helped, was use the water pik to clean out any possible entry that liquid can get through. Then, I drank LOTS of creamy tomato soup. the big Cambells ready to serve was the best for me. I was also so dizzy from lack of nutrients, and showering was next to impossible without sitting down for a while. I also drank a mulivitamin from the UK that was a tablet that fizzed in water, it was tastey, and once I was drinking that, plus soup, I was fine, well that is relevant. Good luck, it is hard, but you are not alone. If y ou have any questions, please ask. Guest guest
Jane, I'm also 4 days postop from double jaw surgery. Ouch. These several days have been rough. Try not to get discouraged, I know it is easy to do. To ease with breathing, I'm using humidifier, and taking hot baths. I also cleaned my nostrils with a q-tip, turns out there was a lot of stuff making it hard to breathe from the breathing tube there. You also need to try to drink, if not water or juice, then maybe some herbal tea - liquid intake is very important. Don't let yourself go hungry. I hope you feel better - I'm very swollen right now, even though my mom is trying to cheer me up by saying it's not so bad, and that I look good (yeah, right! looking good is not even an issue, swelling is making it hard to breathe). My OS also told me that tomorrow swelling is supposed to start getting better - can't wait for that. Best of luck, and feel free to vent - I know how much it must suck for you right now. Guest guest
Thank you so much for replying I am miserable and just want to sleep. I too have just wanted to go to the hospital and get an IV. I just can't drink with swollen painful lips and mouth. My sinuses have been the worst. I have been feeling like I am breathing under water and panicing at night.
