Yeah, severed is a good word for it - severed their stomach to a pouch, severed their pyloric valve, severed their ability to eat normally........oh well, maybe it was a Freudian slip? I'd rather not be severed the way the RNY is.........and anyway, since there are so many different types of RNY, why do they get away with referring to is as if it is the same in all cases? The only thing that is the same is you get a pouch and a stomah. Everything else is a gamble, as far as I can see, depending on the surgeon you get.
