Kori,

I would love to hear more about your fathers staph. This probably sounds odd,

but let me explain. My husband, , has had an open sore on his leg for

almost 4 years. He has been going to a wound care clinic for 2 years and

something. He has tried almost everything. Removed veins, removed tissue, had

skin graphs, tight wraps up to knee, which are changed weekly.

They do a culter about every 2-3 months and place him back on Keflex. He has

also had IV antibiotics. Nothing seems to work. Right now I think it is about

6cm by 7cm, which is about the smallest it seems to get. Then we start all over

again. 2 weeks ago my husband walked out of the office and refuses to go back.

Very stubborn man. He thinks they are not helping. The problem I am having

with this is staph is spreadable if not treated. When he is changing dressings

at home he could infect our children. I have worked in health care field for

9.5 years and I help him change dressings and clean up after wards, but you

never know what could happen.

I really don't know if I will be able to get him to go back. The first time

he went almost 3 years ago, I told him if he didn't go take care of himself I

would leave him. With the husbands leg and Karter's cf we have accumulated

about $10,000 in med. bills. Just to walk in the wound care place is over $400.

A normal time is over $2000. We do have insurance, but they do not cover 100%.

When he goes twice a week his medical bills are more than we make in a month.

This seems to be why the husband will not go. They are not helping and we are

running out of $$$.

Sorry this is so long, but would love to hear if your father has had anything

done that could possibly help my husband.
