I can only assume you are referring to British recipes. It is probably an

abbreviation for tablespoon. Please be aware that British spoon measures

and American spoon measures are not the same. The link below is for a

conversion site.

Subject: UK Pamela: What's a tab?

Pamela,

I've searched the measurement equilvalents sections in many of my

cookbooks and I can not find a reference to a " tab " . Could you help me; I

have several recipes that call for a tab of something that I can't

remember right now, but I don't know the measurement. What is it or

might be an equiivalent?
