Just curious, how do you approach people when you see their

child with a misshaped head and tell them about plagio? I see lots of

babies with flat heads but I never know how to politely approach people and

tell them their child’s head is misshapen and that there is something

they can do about it. Even with people I know it is such a delicate

matter to point out that something is wrong with their child.

I am very upset about plagio also, but I am channeling my

anger in other ways to help people become informed about plagio. If someone

stares, I tell them about plagio, I have went to the media. When I see a baby

with a mishaped head, I tell them about plagio. When my daughter's head was

getting flat, I had to google " flat spots on baby's heads. " I have

chose to use my frustraions in a way to get people informed.

I am with

you! I do the same thing- my son got out of his DOC band 2 weeks ago and we

were told we could get a 2nd band but he is within the normal range, so I

thought I would go a few weeks and look at his head and all I do is focus on

the back of his head- he has Brachy and while it has improved a lot- it is

not all round like other kids. Our ortho told us some head shape is genetics

and when I look at my husbands head I see that Aidan has a similar head

shape- I swear I almost but a stocking on my husbands head yesterday so I

could see his real head shape! ha ha so I am with you- I do the same thing and

I need to either get another band or just be happy with where we are. The

ortho asked me what bothered me about his head shape the day he graduated and

I showed her and she told me even in a 2nd band I will notice that- until his

hair comes in.. It is so stressful. I am also worried that if we do another

helmet that I will still not be happy as his head is never going to be

perfect. The other thing is Aidan is so used to sleeping on his back from

when ever he was in his helmet the he will not sleep any other way- he does

roll around and can sit up he is 6 months old but I worry about regression

since he is on his back in his crib and I have a good firm mattress like I

should have for a baby!

I am glad I

am not the only one who feels this way, I am getting obsessive about it. I

ask everyone to look at his head and I just focus on it ect...

Thanks for

posting- made me feel normal!

Just wanted

to post my thoughts. Would love to know if other's feel the same way as I do.

Plagio has caused me to look at my son's head first rather than his face. I

am constantly assessing the shape of it when his helmet is not on. When I see

other babies I look straight at the head shape and compare and even feel

envious of the naturally round headed babies out there. Before it was even pointed

out to me that my son had plagio I would have never even thought twice about

weird head shape. I just never even looked for it and now its all I can seem

to focus on whether its my baby or a friends. I honestly hope that once we

are out of the helmet I will not worry about his head shape and also not

constantly assess everyone elses headshape! Even adults I meet I size their

heads up too! This just feels nuts! My son has 7 more days left in his helmet

and its not as round as I thought it would be but I am ready to be done with

it and move on with our lives. Ok, thats all I have to say....

Well, I usually have my daughter Chloe with. And I just talk to them about their little one and just explain to them what plagio is. I have even asked parents if their pediatrician has examined their child for plagio, and if not I tell them the ped needs to, that all children should be examined for it. I don't just come out and tell them that there baby has plagio!! I give them information on what to look for, it's causes, and etc.
