Guest guest
My son seems to be getting MORE constipated lately, despite increased magnesium, probiotics, and flax oil supplements. He never had bowel problems with wheat (just with milk), but I've noticed a lot of the GFCF substitutes are very binding items. The new ones for him in the greatest quantity we have now are rice and potatoes. He also gets more eggs, but these are higher in fat & oils, so I don't think those are probably the problem. I think it, if anything, would most likely be rice, and possibly the potatoes. Maybe it is just a matter of too much of those and finder a right balance (he is not a very good fruit or veggie eater). Does anyone know if millet (can be substituted in equal amounts for the rice) is as binding? I know it is better for blood sugar. I kind of want to wait a couple of weeks, though. He is just starting a new schedule in school, and the adjustment can be hard. During times of stress and/or change, he does withhold. I admit, if I think he might be doing it for this latter reason, or just out of stubbornness (which is sometimes the case), I often tell him something like he does not get to play Nintendo until he poops two times. Any input would be appreciated. TIA.
