Guest guest
Amy, We had the exact same dilemma. I live in Houston and I had the choice of taking her CT which was a 45 min drive and out of network of Orthoamerica a 10 min drive and in network. The dilemma came when I went to the CT appointment and really loved everything they did and said. The doctors seemed so patient and has had so many patients. I studied the differences in the band and everything kept leading my to the DOC band at CT. I would read post here where people chose the wrong band and the baby suffered and their pocket book sufferer as well. I was dead set on going to CT even though it was further and out of network. I wanted the Docband and just knew I was decided. I did promise my husband I would at least do a consultation with Orthoamerica for a Starband just to say I went. Well low and behold we ended up using them and I LOVE MY STARBANDED BEAUTY! Even though I read all of the advantages of the Docband vs. the Starband it really came down to the Orthodist, their experience, how patient they would be with a new mom with lots of questions, the drive and insurance coverage was just a bonus. I know some people on here will disagree but I think that the Docband has a wonderful marketing dept. and they are better at marketing the product. Docbands do not have as long of a life as Starbands from what I have been told, and we were going to have to do the plaster molding for the casting (10 min casting with their eyes covered, just seemed scary to me) with Doc as opposed to the StarScanner (3-D quick scan) for the Star band. I am glad we went with The Starband, she is progressing well, our Orthodist is wonderful, the drive is a breeze, and getting money back will be nice. As long as you feel comfortable with the Hangarband people and you feel they will do a good job, and have enough experience make it easy on yourself and go with them. Drill them with lots of questions (That is what I did) but it helped me make the right decision. le Mom to 8 month in Starband for 2weeks 16mm right plagio, 94% brachy, slight tort > > My daugther is 5 months old and we have already had her evaluated for a > DOC band and she is a good candidate.
