Guest guest
RUSH to the phone to call you surgeon. He needs to know of any problems. It may turn out to be nothing, but if it is a stricture or some other problem, he can fix it easier before the problem becomes worse. I know some people have a harder time than I did...my recovery was a breeze. But, it was repeated over and over by my surgeon that no problem was too small to bother him with. This is a SERIOUS surgery and overall complications are few, but the severity of many complications could be reduced with prompt intervention. Also, I would call the surgeon or his answering service to have him advise if a trip to the ER is necessary. This is such a specialized area I wouldnt want someone without knowledge of RNY guessing what to to to me. ~~Pat~~ Orlando, FL 252/193/160 (-59) BMI 37.2/28.5/23.6 52 Years Young LAP-RNY 12/10/03 Wayne English, MD Ft Lauderdale, FL Message: 9 Date: Sat, 24 Apr 2004 18:24:42 -0700 Subject: What do I do? Hi Guys! I need some help. Things have been going pretty well since surgery, but lately I don't feel good. I think something may be wrong but I am not sure. It hurts to eat and drink, but I am not real sure why. It feels like it could be gas or maybe something is blocked, but it's been nearly 3 days. My Mother is so worried that she thinks I need to go to the emergency room and find out if something serious is wrong. I don't feel sick unless I am eating or drinking. The only thing I can seem to eat is chicken broth and popcicles. Neither of which is going to boost my protein intake for the day. I am having a really hard time with the taste of vitamins too. They gag me really bad and I know I have to take them. This along with some strange post op depression and I am pretty much a basket case. If anyone has any idea what I am going through please let me know what will help. Thank you all for your input and support! You guys are awesome!
